Starting my career as a public defender in Atlanta, Georgia, I got to see horrific injustices taking place on the daily. These injustices were something that once you have seen, you cannot unsee. I will never forget the things certain individuals did "in the name of the law" - justifying their actions by claiming to serve some greater good. I will never forget the struggles and setbacks entire groups of people face at the hands of the Government, regardless of their guilt or innocence. I thought America was a place where people are innocent until proven guilty, but I witnessed that people are treated the exact opposite.
